A system dominated by big money fails to represent everyday Americans.
David and Mary will discuss the work of Clean Elections and its focus on reducing the influence of corporate and dark money in our political system, while restoring power to everyday voters. They’ll explore how policy decisions -- from health care and education to gun policy, energy, and war -- are shaped by who gets elected. When corporations and undisclosed funding sources heavily influence election outcomes, they also shape the policies that follow. This conversation will highlight why addressing the root of the issue -- how campaigns are funded and elections are won and fighting Citizens United -- is essential to building a more representative and accountable democracy.
