SCVI stands with Ukraine! We are horrified (and deeply embarrassed) by the ambush of Ukrainian President Zelenskyy by President Trump and VP Vance in the Oval Office on Friday, February 28. We are anguished by the implications of the Trump administration's support of Russian President Putin's position on the war in Ukraine.
Over the weekend of March 1-2, President Zelenskyy met with European leaders, who pledged their support. The Trump administration’s subsequent decision to suspend the delivery of all military assistance to Ukraine left Ukrainians and Europeans figuring out how to fend for themselves. The decision potentially affects at least $9 billion in arms, ammunition, and air defense systems in the pipeline and on order. This action is illegal and, further, it is unconstitutional. We also understand that military intelligence and satellite imagery, which over the last three years have assisted Ukraine's defense, are being withheld.
At this moment the choice is very clear: democracy and freedom, or dictatorship and tyranny. President Trump, VP Vance, and Congressional Republicans have chosen dictatorship and tyranny. We choose democracy and freedom.
