Time to Stand Up Together

These are difficult and troubling times in the United States. Those of us who believe in democracy and the rule of law are struggling. It feels out of control. A more technical explanation is helpful to capture the gravity of this time. We are in a moment of “authoritarian breakthrough." That’s the term Indivisible used in their One Million Rising training series this summer. This is defined as “a short window in which a would-be authoritarian regime attempts to rapidly consolidate power, eliminate checks on their power, and operate with impunity.” That is an apt description of our current circumstances.

St. Croix Valley Indivisible (SCVI) is committed to working toward a democracy that works for all. Right now that looks like pushing back on Trump’s authoritarian regime and the institutions (or pillars) that support that regime. SCVI's commitment in these troubling times is to ensuring that our democracy holds through 2026 and we have free and fair mid-term elections. We will focus our push-back on the media to tell the truth, on large corporations that capitulate to the demands of the regime, and on physical forces like ICE.

Now is the time to stand up together. It will take all of us and more to save our democracy and protect the integrity of the 2026 elections. We need you with us. There is lots to do and many different ways to contribute. Over the coming months we will be inviting you into the work and asking for your commitment. Join us in community and resistance!
