Expand Democracy in Minnesota Team
The Expand Democracy in Minnesota Team will work to move Minnesota closer to a true multicultural democracy that ensures a voice for all people in the state, and insists that everyone has the freedom, fairness and representation that our democracy promises is possible.
The Team will lead this effort in cooperation with We Choose Us MN. We Choose Us is a coalition of many groups in Minnesota who are committed to ensuring robust voter access to the ballot, a fair redistricting process and getting dark money out of politics. With them, we will advocate for concrete legislation which will strengthen Minnesota’s democracy.
Political Action Team
This team coordinates and collaborates with political campaigns with the goal of electing candidates to the state legislature who share our values.
In preparation for the election, we evaluate the candidates and decide as a group which campaigns we will actively support. We develop our camstrategy, taking into consideration the work of other groups in the community, with the intent of avoiding duplication of effort. Depending on the needs of the candidate, we may hold meet and greets, organize rallies, show up for parades, and participate in canvassing and other campaign activities. We will participate in and/or lead get out the vote efforts.
In non-election years, we monitor the performance and votes of opponents, and call out extremism and attacks on our democracy. We lift up the work of elected officials who are developing and supporting legislation which moves us toward a Minnesota in which all people thrive, no matter the place they call home, their race, sexual preference, or what job they do.
