Power to the People -- WE are the People

WE, the people of the United States of America, are facing tough times.

It is important that we name what we can plainly see. We see the Trump regime flexing its muscle by detaining and deporting immigrants without due process and by unlawfully deploying military force on our streets. Name it: cutting Medicaid and SNAP, giving tax cuts to the wealthy, imposing unconstitutional tariffs. Name it: authoritarianism is breaking through.

Trump has many supporters, but why? They are gripped by racism, xenophobia, and white Christian nationalism. They are driven by fear of “the other.” Trump promises that defeating the “bad people” leaves more for the “good people.”St. Croix Valley Indivisible (SCVI) stands up for democracy and a government that works for all people.

We are at a turning point in terms of losing our democracy and large numbers of people must take broad action to resist and work proactively to preserve (and eventually improve) our democracy.

We have the power to stop this movement toward authoritarianism.

The power of the people is stronger than the fear and hate driving the people in power.
