On Saturday, July 19, close to 400 residents (and 5 dogs) gathered on the I-94 bridge that crosses the St. Croix River. The group was large enough to span the entire length of the bridge between Minnesota and Wisconsin, symbolizing a dynamic link between people regardless of their differences.
St. Croix Valley Indivisible (SCVI) collaborated with other local Indivisible groups. Participants came from communities on both sides of the river. Minnesota communitiesrepresented included Stillwater, Lakeland, Afton, Forest Lake, Cottage Grove, Hastings, St. Paul, and Minneapolis. Wisconsin communities represented included Hudson, River Falls, New Richmond, Prescott, Somerset, and Eau Claire.
The action was part of a nationwide action honoring the life and legacy of civil rights hero Congressman John Lewis, who died five years ago this month.
