Recognizing and Resisting Authoritarianism
Learn more about how countries transition away from democracy and tilt toward authoritarianism. Our special guest speaker, Petrona Melgarejo of the Los Amigos Program, is originally from Paraguay She is now a US citizen who has worked for the federal government. She will talk about her experiences growing up under a dictatorship in Paraguay and the warning signs of rising authoritarianism in the United States. This will be followed by a Q & A session and discussion on how to fight back!
Our power comes from courageous collective action, engagement, and solidarity. Let's build community, strengthen our movement, and take action. We have critically important work to do together!
Yes! We must resist the current regime on its determined march to authoritarianism. And it is our vision for the future that will sustain us for the road ahead.

A strong SCVI community will contribute to a strong democracy!
