On May 1, join St. Croix Valley Indivisible (SCVI) in Oak Park Heights for an act of community care while participating in May Day Strong -- “an act of refusal to engage with the American economic engine” as usual. May Day is a national day of action. No Work. No School. No Shopping. Workers Over Billionaires.
By polarizing our population, authoritarians and oligarchs distract us from the erosion of our civil rights. They turn our attention from their bid to extract ever-more profits while leaving their mess behind.
SCVI rejects their mess! We will not help these uber-capitalists exploit our community. Instead, we will engage in collective care.
Together, on May Day, we’ll pick up trash in public spaces, showing up for our neighbors, local businesses, the environment, and each other
Fri, May 1, 12:00pm-2:00pm
Fiesta Mexican Grill,
5817 Neal Ave N, Oak Park Heights, MN 55082
🏁 Game Plan
Meetup: We'll gather at the southwest corner of Fiesta Mexican Grill's parking lot (near Kowalski's off of Hwy 36 and Hwy 5).
Mission: We'll be heading out to clean up Autumn Hills Park, Brekke Park, Cover Park, and Oak Park Crossing Park (near Phil's Hideaway). Maps will be provided.
Supplies: We'll provide trash bags. Please bring your own gloves.
🌮 Fellowship and Support
After we've cleared the parks of litter, we'll head back to Fiesta Mexican Grill for some well-deserved fellowship time, starting at 2 p.m.
As many of you know, this local gem was hit hard during the ICE Surge, and they deserve our business and our solidarity. Let's show up for them like they show up for our community.
"Grab your old friends and new friends -- let's get to work!" Whether you're in it for the environment, the local economy, or just a good taco with great people, we can't wait to see you there.
This is about practicing what it means to turn up locally, strengthen our connections, and build our collective-action muscle at home while making a visible difference. This is what democracy looks like.
